I’ve mentioned on this blog, Michelle is a professional dog trainer. Yesterday, my wife and her training director represented their facility, Wags & Wiggles, at a local health/business fair. Our Irish wolfhound, Reilly, served as half of the welcoming committee (Erica also brought one of her dogs).
Reilly gets nervous around people he doesn’t know, but he was in top form, his contagious good nature and strikingly large size drawing people in. He was a good sport, welcoming people to the table and even putting up with strangers reaching in and touching his face (which if you don’t know, is not the best way to introduce yourself to a strange dog). He definitely exemplified the breed’s reputation as a “gentle giant.”
When the world seems to be going to hell in a handbasket, it’s nice to have the likes of Reilly around, to remind you that there’s always goodness if you know where to look.
